This is by no way related to DeviantArt, but it had me so mad I needed to post it. On October 14th the following student publication, called the pathfinder, was published at Lewis Clark State College: [link]

This is my letter to the editor response to it. It won't get published, because the author is in authority at the newspaper, but what better place to publish the unpublished than at deviantart?

To the Girlfriend of Mr. Perez:
I am terribly sorry that your boyfriend is a jerk. Mr. Perez publicly demoralized you to bring himself up in the Pathfinder’s opinion section of the October 14th issue. To start off, he blamed you for getting pregnant, announcing to the world that “To my bad luck, my girlfriend did not take those precautions.” Obviously he was never clever enough to figure out that HE CAN TAKE THOSE PRECAUTIONS TOO. Secondly he deserted you in your time of greatest need to drink with his friends. When he was cut off from drinking he came back home to you, only to try and convince you to get an abortion, which he admits was a breach of your morals. I highly doubt that someone who really loved you would try and manipulate your morals for his own benefit.

It is fitting that this column is presented in the issue whose main headline is “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” because Mr. Perez’s piece shot up multiple red flags that screamed: ‘emotionally abusive alcoholic father on the way’. Who wants a father who publicly announces that “nobody is perfect and that is always a good excuse I can rely upon” or “I’d much rather terminate the pregnancy than to give away a piece of me to somebody else because I wasn’t man enough to take care of the problem.”

Girlfriend, every woman out there deserves better than what Mr. Perez has to offer. He is an alcoholic, he left you in your time of greatest need, he tried to talk you out of our moral convictions, and to top it all off he wrote about it publicly to bring himself up. Chances are, he’s going to repeat himself, but next time you will have a baby in your arms. Girl, pack your bags, and run away.
